Why I’m doing this?

Updated: Apr 5, 2024

Above all else, the inspiration behind me starting this business is quite simply my cat. She loves eating flowers and I love her.

Knowing her penchant for petals and leaves I had to be so careful to put everything out of reach, which was a shame because I love a vase of flowers. What I found astonishing when I first started my research was the number of species that are potentially harmful.

Equally surprising is how few people are aware of what types of flowers and foliage cats and dogs are safe to nibble on. There’s a vast amount of information available on the internet, much of it published by animal charities, but people need to know about the problem in order to want to look for that information in the first place! In getting the word out, I hope to be able to greatly increase that awareness.

It’s true that not all cats and dogs eat flowers and plants, but some do, and whilst not all of the toxic ones can have life-threatening consequences, even a mild reaction such as a sore mouth or a tummy upset is very distressing for our pets, not to mention the unnecessary vets bill.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will also be shining a light on some of our wonderful animal charities who work tirelessly and selflessly to rescue, heal and rehome.
