Let’s hear it for the black cats

October 28th is National Black Cat day.
I’ve been blessed with 4 cats throughout my life including Tinky, 2 black and white and 2 all black. It made me immensely sad when I learned that these are the cats that shelters struggle to find homes for, especially the all black ones. In fact on average it takes twice as long to find them a loving home, sometimes longer. It’s said that the reason for this is because of the association with superstition and bad luck. I don’t really understand this, I mean, if we’re going down the superstitious route I was always told that a black cat crossing your path is good luck not bad!
I’ve even read that they don’t get adopted because they aren’t as photogenic - I beg to differ.

All cats are beautiful, but there’s something really special about black cats and they deserve to be loved and cherished the same as any of our feline friends.
If you’re thinking about adopting a cat, please remember this, and if you’re lucky enough to already have one as your pet - every day is black cat day!
